Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace, Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. Royal Palace of the kings of the Nayak Dynasty, which ruled much of Tamil Nadu between 1529 and 1736. To be honest I think it is used now for light shows and Bollywood films. All of the white pillars are thick with graffiti, and you can't escape the selfies. A sad time for this lovely structure.
When I'm in places like this my mind goes to an imaginary romantic past of classical music and colorful dress and secret games between lovers. I'm always longing for that world. At least places like this give me a seed to start dreaming.
